W2ENY Package includes Adapter, Headset w/Boom Mic and Volume Control
I've been experimenting with MANY headsets and mic elements over the last years.  This works great, ready to plug and go with your radio (below), features an electret mic element for great sound with nice audio; I've been getting nothing but excellent 'ON AIR' audio reports.
8 feet of shielded cable, mic can go on left or right side.
The adapter shown plugs directly into your radio's Microphone jack for DC bias (for the mic element), Mic input and PTT connection.  Earphones plug into the radio headset/speaker jack.
